Mini Beer Festival for Westgate Inn

With the colder weather now here and longer nights setting in, a Winchester pub could have just the thing to offer a 'winter warmer' to the people of the city in the form of a mini real ale festival.

Guy Carpenter , landlord of The Westgate Inn , has been planning the event for some weeks, and has now finalised the full list of fourteen beers that will be on offer when the mini festival commences on Wednesday, November 15 th , ranging from seasonal specials and unsung gems to well-known classics.

The list includes the popular Ruddles Best , Bombardier and Speckled Hen ales, plus Hook 303AD , Otter , Hobgoblin , and Hampshire Brewery's Golden Bitter

There can surely be fewer better locations in which to enjoy ale in the historic city – the Romsey Road pub offers superb views of Winchester's mediaeval Westgate, The Great Hall and the top of the city's High Street.

What makes the proposition perhaps even more attractive is the fact that The Westgate Inn is also home to The Tiffin Club – a restaurant serving superb Indian and Bangladeshi inspired cuisine, freshly prepared on the premises using locally produced ingredients wherever possible – an excellent accompaniment to the beers on offer.

Guy said: “We've wanted to put on a beer festival for a while now, so hope that the combination of the surroundings, the view, the food - and most importantly the beer – will provide not only Winchester pub goers but also those from further afield an opportunity to come in from the cold and sample some fine ales.”

The Westgate Inn's Mini Beer Festival starts on Wednesday November 15th and will continue to run until the stock runs dry!
